The John Gent Windows
John Gent gave his time to Hurworth Village Hall for nearly 40 years – serving as committee member, treasurer, chairman and president. When he passed away in 2021, thoughts naturally turned to how John’s life could be commemorated at The Village Hall. The two beautiful stained-glass windows, bearing John’s name, on either side of the front door were designed by Barbara and Jilson Lawrance and are a fitting tribute celebrating his contribution to making the Hall what it is today. The windows depict grapes, as a reminder of his wonderful grape growing at the back of his home which faced the River Tees.
